If you live one mile from the Weaver Fertilizer Plant in Winston-Salem, you need to evacuate and prepare to be gone for about 48 hours.

On January 31st, around 7pm, a fire broke out at the plant. Even if you aren't within the evacuation zone, you should stay inside due to the fumes from the ammonium nitrate. Over 600 tons are at the scene of the fire, as well as 5,000 tons of finished fertilizer.

Ammonium nitrate can cause skin irritation and difficulty breathing. So if you must go outside, make it quick.

Wake Forest University closed today due to the fire.
