March is Women's History Month! Every day we will be commemorating and sharing the stories of influential women from North Carolina.
Today we celebrate Gertrude Weil. She was a humanitarian and reformer that worked to improve the lives of all people. She fought for social equality for people of all different backgrounds. She was part of the woman's suffrage movement, called to reform NC child labor laws, shorten women's workdays, and improve the working conditions of everyone. Weil's also fought for the equality of Black citizens and opposed segregation.
