The Miami Dolphins and general manager Chris Grier have reportedly parted ways mutually, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Friday (October 31).

The reported decision came hours after the Dolphins' blowout home Thursday Night Football loss to the Baltimore Ravens, dropping to 2-7 through their first nine games of the 2025 NFL season.

"The #Dolphins and GM Chris Grier have mutually parted ways, per sources," Pelissero wrote on his X account. "The Dolphins had mostly fended off trade calls in recent weeks, trying to turn things around. Now, at 2-7, a major change atop the football operation -- and potentially a shift in trade talks coming between now and the 4 p.m. ET Tuesday deadline."

Grier, 55, had worked with the Dolphins since 2000, initially hired as a scout before being promoted to assistant director of college scouting in 2003, director of college scouting in 2007 and general manager in 2016. The Massachusetts native had previously worked for the New England Patriots, initially as an intern in 1994 before five seasons as a scout from 1995 to 1999.

Grier has overseen three head coaching changes, which includes the firing of Adam Gase -- who was hired days after his promotion to general manager in 2016 -- the hiring and firing of Brian Flores, as well as the hiring of current head coach Mike McDaniel. The 55-year-old is the longest-tenured general manager since Eddie Jones (1990-2004) and the fourth-longest-tenured general manager in franchise history behind Jones, Mike Robbie (1978-1989) and Don Shula (1970-77).
