Fans of Camp Rock were delighted last week to learn that a third film in the beloved franchise has finally been confirmed; however, while the Jonas Brothers will star in the upcoming sequel, Camp Rock 3 will be missing some of its original cast.
In a recent interview with E! News, Alyson Stoner, who played Caitlyn Geller in the first two Camp Rock movies, explained that they don't have any information about the franchise's forthcoming third film and that they are not involved in the process, per People.
"I haven't heard anything beyond that, but that sounds exciting," they said.
While the dancer and author isn't part of the new film, they have some ideas about what it may look like, even comparing it to a fellow Disney Channel Original Movie hit franchise.
"I'm guessing it'll be similar to what they did with High School Musical, where maybe they introduce a new generation," they said. "That's what I'm assuming. But cool. Sounds great."
Stoner isn't the only friendly face that will be missing from the new sequel. Demi Lovato, who starred as Mitchie Torres in the first two films, has also not been confirmed to appear in Camp Rock 3. She will, however, be credited as a producer, along with the JoBros. Maria Canals-Barrera, who portrayed Mitchie's mom Connie in the franchise, will also reprise her role in the new film.
Deadline reported September 17 that Camp Rock 3 had been greenlit for Disney Channel and Disney+ and that the film "picks up when Connect 3 [the Jonas Brothers' characters' band] lose their opening act for a major reunion tour, returning to their beloved Camp Rock to discover the next big thing."
