Chris Brown has been released from police custody after he was granted bail.
According to a report BBC published on Wednesday, May 21, a judge released the 36-year-old singer from jail on a $6.7 million bail. Brown had been behind bars in London since his arrest last Thursday. He was initially denied bail last week and had to spend the weekend in jail. A judge allowed him to walk free, but he had to pay $5.3 million immediately. The rest of the payment will be due in seven days. Brown posted bail just weeks before he's scheduled to kick off his tour in Amsterdam.
Chris Brown was arrested last week on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm on music producer Abe Diaw. The altercation reportedly occurred at The Tape nightclub in London on February 19, 2023. At the time, Diaw claimed Brown hit him in the head several times with a bottle of tequila. After his knees buckled, Diaw alleged Brown punched and kicked him while he was on the ground. He sought medical treatment at a hospital after the alleged unprovoked attack and claimed he needed crutches to walk while he recovered. Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown for $16 million following the incident.
Brown was granted bail with enough time to prepare for his "Breezy Bowl XX World Tour." The tour begins with a sold-out show in The Netherlands on June 8. He plans to invade several European countries, including The U.K., throughout the first half of the summer. He's expected to begin the U.S. leg of his tour in Miami on July 30.
