Hey Latin lovers, it's K Marie a white girl in a Hispanic world. I am sure you have seen on social media everywhere so many videos and pictures of the situation in Cuba. So many people have gathered on streets all over the United States, especially in Miami Fl, the largest population of Cubans to spread awareness and demand a change. If you are still a little confused about what Cuba is going through, Cuba has been living under a dictatorship for the past 60+ years. A dictatorship is a form of government characterized by a single leader or group of leaders and little or no toleration for political pluralism or independent media.
To put it into simple words, there is no freedom in Cuba. The pictures you see on social media of people visiting Cuba on vacation in beautiful antique cars, scenery, is not the real Cuba. Cubans are living in unimaginable conditions. They are dying because of lack of food, basic necessities, medical services. They are also dying in the hands of the government. I found this information a good way of explaining what they are going through.
Enrique Santos was a guest on Elvis Duran's morning show to talk about Cuba and what is going on. Enrique, who is Cuban, explains to Elvis Duran what his parents and grandparents along with many other Cubans have had to go through. He even explains how the Cuban government is ripping young men from their families arms to force them into the military to fight against their own people. There are videos showing this that are heartbreaking.
Elvis Duran says towards the end of the conversation, "freedom for the Cuban people is freedom for the world." The song that Enrique Santos was talking about called "Patria y Vida," sung by Cubans Yotuel, Gente De Zona and a few other artists that has become the song for this movement you can listen to below. And if you didn't know, Cubans that are caught even listening to this song IN CUBA, are arrested. Another example of their lack of freedom.
