When it comes to being a welcoming place for all persons, what kind of grade would you guess your community would get?
Greensboro received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's 2022 Municipal Equality Index. The index analyzed 506 cities' support of LGBTQ people, including 11 in North Carolina. They looked at things like health care benefits, police support, and pro-equality policies. Greensboro received 100, the top score. By comparison to other North Carolina cities, Raleigh scored an 85 and Charlotte an 86.
According to their website, "The MEI examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are of LGBTQ+ people who live and work there. Cities are rated based on non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement and leadership on LGBTQ+ equality."
