System Of A Down's 'Chop Suey' Video Reaches A Billion Views On YouTube

System of a Down's "Chop Suey!" has officially hit a billion views on YouTube — a feat not many rockers have achieved. While hard rock songs like Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, Linkin Park’s “In the End” and “Numb”, and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” are all part of the coveted three-comma club, Consequence of Sound points out that SOAD is arguably the first metal band to reach this milestone, while by Bon Jovi's “It’s My Life,” Metallica's “Nothing Else Matters,” and AC/DC's “Thunderstruck” are getting close to breaking that threshold.

Despite some personal tension between band members, SOAD recently returned with their first new music in 15 years. Earlier this month, they released "Protect the Land " and "Genocidal Humanoidz" in an effort to address the renewed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"On September 27, the combined forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey (along with Isis terrorists from Syria) attacked the Republica of Nagorno-Karabakh, which we as Armenians call Artsakh," the band wrote in a statement. "For over the past month, civilians young and old have been awakened day and night by the frightful sights and sounds of rocket attacks, falling bombs, missiles, drones and terrorist attacks. They've had to find sanctuary in makeshift shelters, trying to avoid the fallout of outlaws bluster bombs raining down on their streets and home, hospitals and places of worship. Their attackers have set their forests and endangered wildlife ablaze using white phosphorus, another banned weapon."

Proceeds from the new tracks will benefit the Armenia Fund.
